After getting my haircut yesterday at the IFC in HK I stopped by Lane Crawford to see what's new in retail packaging, cosmetics, displays, etc. Lucky for me they were having an amazing fashion showcase featuring the Hong Kong Polytechnic University's Institute of Textile & Clothing.

Packaging is almost always the vehicle.  But what happens when packaging becomes the product?  Cool things.  Very cool things.  Especially if you’re at cubeecraft.com. 

The guys (and gals) at cubeecraft.com have designed a ton of cubees - people, cars, monsters, and the swine flu - for your folding pleasure.  All Cubees are available for download to be printed and assembled, in minutes. The figures are constructed using the locking tuck tab design commonly found in folding boxes which eliminates the need for glue or other adhesives. Think origami for dummies.  They are free to download and even have templates available for you to create your own cubeecraft critters.

Flipped for my Flip Mino HD

When I picked up my Flip MinoHD, I thought I would have just torn through the packaging to get at it and start shooting, wrong. I did get through the outer double tuck end box pretty quick, pretty standard stuff, all over black, nice 4 color images, silver hotstamp, and a gloss UV. But the secondary packaging... Did stop me.

Stone Paper Put to the Test

Before and after, the Stone Paper crumbles under the slightest application of pressure.

To see how quickly stone paper degrades, I put it to a non-scientific (almost forgot about it) test.  Setting the synthetic shopping paper bags made from calcium carbonate behind our warehouse in full Arizona weather, I waited and waited for something to happen. Here's what I found:
